DO I HAVE 3 HEADS?
When I say Ayurveda - people look at me like I have 3 heads! So, I want to take time to explain what it is and how it can change your life (it definitely changed mine!).
If you apply the simply practices of Ayurveda to your life you will find yourself moving from a life you merely tolerate and struggle to navigate.
To a life you are so in love with that you are JUMPING ON OPRAH’S COUCH!!!
You see, my life changed when I started studying Yoga and Ayurveda over 7 years ago. And when I told people about Yoga, they understood what it was all about.
But when I started studying Ayurveda, people looked at me like I had 3 heads! Most people have never heard the word and more often than not I was spelling it out for people. Say it with me “Eye-your-vay-duh”
So - what the heck is Ayurveda?
(And more importantly why should you care? *spoiler alert* you will live longer with a better quality of life!!)
Ayurveda literally means the science of life. It is a path to restoring balance in your life, by using whatever means necessary.
Yup, you read that right. Whatever means necessary.
If it works for you, makes you happy, keeps you healthy, puts you to sleep at night, and provides a sense of fulfillment - keep doing it!
There is no perfect list you need to download or a perfect outcome prescribed to you by a doctor in a white lab coat.
The practice of Ayurveda is noticing when your breathing becomes short or labored. And noticing if your mind starts to spin out or goes down the rabbit hole of “what if”.
When people hear an unfamiliar word they either get curious and tune in. Or tune out and change the channel.
Let me ask you to stay curious my friend and TUNE IN.
I promise you the tools in the toolbox are simple. (And just because the tool box is old, doesn’t mean the tools are irrelevant. It means they WORK and have stood the test of time.)
Practically speaking Ayurveda shows us ways to:
Enjoy meals without experiencing indigestion or heartburn
Wake up in the morning feeling refreshed
Feel joyful about life, no matter the family drama or stressful job situation
And feel healthy and vibrant (no sick days!)
Want a little secret?
To practice Ayurveda all you need to do is focus on 4 things:
Notice your breath. Especially if you’re feeling anxious.
Eat when you are hungry. Aim for the same time every day.
Eliminate on time. Don’t hold it!
Cry when you want to cry. Laugh and feel it in your belly. Don’t hold the emotions back!
Our bodies are SO smart and it’s job is to heal, repair, and keep us safe!
Our job is to stop, pause, and pay attention to what our body is telling us.
Ayurveda is the tool box we need if (and when) we experience
Anxiety caused by stress
Tired and sluggish mornings caused by sleepless nights
And painful digestion or constipation
