AYURVEDA HEALTH COUNSELOR

Can a bubble bath really transform your life + other questions to ask yourself.

All change I want to see starts with me, within me, and is my responsibility.

On Saturday afternoon, when The Associated Press called Pennsylvania for Biden (and the subsequent win), I felt like I was finally able to breathe again.  I believe in social justice, #blm, and equality for all humans.  The current administration was divisive, abusive, and so many other things.

This win marked the beginning of an end to this...I took a deep breath, listened to the cheering and honking outside my window, cried, and celebrated.  Then, I prepared for the work that still lies ahead.

✨How are you preparing for the work that lies ahead?✨

For me all routes lead back to my daily route-ine (aka #selfcare).

I’ve had multiple people say to me that they just don’t get it.  “How can lemon water and bubble baths really be that transformational?”  I understand the confusion.  And my simple answer is- you don’t get it, until you FEEL it.  (Consistency is key.)

My long answer is:  self-care is the foundation for a healthy body and clear mind.  Ayurveda gives you tools to detox your body.  And technically, it’s not about the bubble bath (though they do feel damn good!)  It’s about the message you give to your body, mind, nervous system about the ACT of self-care.

✨What messages are you sending to yourself?  Think about what you do day to day and the internal dialogue you have with yourself.

When I consistently show up for myself, I create transformation within me and around me.

After years of confusion, I’ve moved to a deeper level of understanding, clarity, and I finally see it all starts with me.  Any change I want to see in my world, starts with me and will then ripple out to the collective.

All actions, no matter how small, add up to a bigger picture.  My actions create a foundation for change.  They contribute to the bigger meaning and purpose.

✨What is your contribution to the world?

Ayurveda is medicine for the internal body.  If you take care of the physical body, your mental body will be clear, and then you will be able show up in this world and do the work.

I decided I was ready to experience something bigger than the job that kept me small and invisible.  I had to believe change was possible and move beyond the couch and bottle of wine that kept me feeling comfortable and “safe”.  The endless streaming just wasn’t cutting it for me anymore.

Transformation started for me the minute I decided I was ready for something more.  I decided I wanted more out of life.

✨What do you want out of life?  Do you have a plan to get there?

So yea, on the surface I understand why a bubble bath and lemon water (or insert another “fluffy” self-care ideal here) doesn’t seem like that big of a deal (and the bubbles alone will not transform your life).  But, through years of experience I can say that when I take care of my physical body, my walk through this life has started to feel more easeful, and the bubbles and lemon water support the bigger picture:  a purposeful life.

Last Saturday evening I listened to our future President and Vice President Elect talk about creating unity and supporting the greater collective.  Their messages supported the idea that all human beings are important and equal rights should be supported in this country.  Finally, a message I believe in is being reflected back to me at the national level.
But let’s not confuse things, this is only the beginning, and we have a lot of work to do.

I’m ready to do the work internally, for myself, so I can support my community.  Are you?
